John Coppolino and Suzanne Moore represented Regent Bank at the South Florida Manufacturers’ Association 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting and Expo on September 27. With record attendance, they were able to introduce Regent Bank to several future Bank clients. The South Florida Manufacturers’ Association is very important to the economic viability of South Florida.

Condo Seminar Recap

Condo Board and Property Manager Seminar – Boca Raton

More than 50 condominium and homeowner association board members and property managers attended our recent seminar at the Renaissance Hotel, Boca Raton.

Following a welcome by Sid Spiro, Regent Bank Chairman and CEO, Regent Bank Senior Vice President Dawn Calder shared tips for obtaining credit. Dawn advised that it is always better to get to know your banker before a crisis occurs. She also outlined the best way to prepare for a meeting with your banker, and the documents needed.

Harvey Sheldon, CPCU, Advanced Insurance Underwriters, discussed windstorm insurance – a topic that is always top-of-mind in South Florida. He also summarized the changes in recent legislation affecting condo insurance issues.

Rob Rosen, CPA, Gerstle, Rosen & Goldenberg, gave an overview of association financials, including the wisdom of conducting a reserve study. It is now mandatory for all associations with buildings over three stories to have a reserve study done every five years, unless a majority of owners vote to waive it. The study will give the association valuable information as to its financial state.

Louis Caplan, Esq., Sachs Sax & Caplan, discussed the foreclosure process, including an association’s rights and responsibilities. Lou provided a handout explaining recent changes to Florida Statutes relating to homeowner and condominium associations.

During the session, each speaker answered questions from attendees and gave tips for associations to effectively and efficiently manage their properties. Attendees remarked that they felt better informed following the seminar, and gained practical, useful information to take back to their boards.

Pompano Beach Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Celebrates Opening of Pompano Beach Facility

More than 70 elected officials, community leaders and Bank clients joined us on July 28, 2010 for the official ribbon cutting of our new Pompano Beach facility. Officials from the City of Pompano Beach and the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce participated in the ceremony, which was followed by tours of the state-of-the-art building.

The two-story building was designed by architect Frank Perez and built by Anderson Moore Construction. Tamara Tennant Interior Design, Inc. created the handsomely appointed interior space, complete with the latest audio and video-conferencing capabilities. Rich woods compliment the neutral colors and natural lighting to produce a professional and comfortable experience for clients.

CitySide Suites Grand Opening

Regent Bank recently helped celebrate the grand opening of CitySide Suites, a one stop business shop for small and mid-size businesses. CitySide Suites offers virtual office membership packages to assist both budding entrepreneurs and existing small business owners.

Partnering with the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, Regent Bank has funded a number of loans to small businesses and property owners in partnership with the CRA. The Capital Improvement Grant Program supports projects that encourage economic development within the Northwest Neighborhood CRA area.

Regent Bank provided financing to The Family Enterprises, Inc. that enabled them to receive CRA grant funds to renovate their 5,000 square foot retail building located on Rosemary Avenue in West Palm Beach. CitySide Suites is located in this building, and both organizations are owned by the Studstill family. The completion of the building renovations has helped to fulfill a lifelong dream of the late Ulysee “Buddy” Studstill, the founder of The Family Enterprises, Inc. His vision for the rebirth of small businesses on Rosemary Avenue has been championed by Cora Perry, his sister, and by H. Darren Studstill, a former National Football League player and the nephew of Ulysee Studstill.

In addition to providing financial products and services, Regent Bank provides educational seminars to the local business community. The Bank will partner with The Family Enterprises, Inc. to present a series of free business seminars at CitySide Suites.
